About GED Testing
 

 Special note:  The GED testing fee is now $60 payable at the time the appointment is made.  The retesting fee is $30 per subtest.

 
 
 
To take the GED test applicants must:
 
  1. Be at least 16 years old and have been withdrawn from school for at least 90 days.
  2. Have a Kentucky mailing address.
  3. Be certified test-ready.  This means you have taken the 5 GED practice tests and written a test essay at one of the area Adult Learning Centers and scored an average of 450.  There is no cost to take the practice GED tests.
  4. Fill out a DAEL-6 form at the Learning Center.
  5. GED testing is by appointment only.  To schedule an appointment applicant must pay the $60 testing fee and select two GED testing appointment days.  The $60 testing fee covers taking the 5 GED tests in two test sittings.  Applicants take three GED tests one day and return to take the remaining two the next day.  Any tests not taken during the two days will cost an additional $30 each.  GED retests are  also $30 each.
  6. Have a photo ID

GED testing is scheduled several times each month and is given at 30 West 8th Street, Newport, KY.
